Hi guys , I's been awhile...Cosette here to say hope you have the best holiday season..this year my mommy took me to Texas. It's a nice place but it's really different from Michigan snowbanks I am usually sinking into this time of year. Mommy likes Texas cuz there are nice and special people from here...

Anyway, I'm very excited to see that even though we are in a new place Grandma and pa still have a whole shelf dedicated to awesomeness..pecan and apple pie are so yummy.

Toy Dog Club 2011 AKC Show-Miami, FL

Friday December 9th was the annual Toy Dog Club of South Florida Show in Miami,FL Congrats to our Group 1 winner a showy Min Pin with owner/handler Armando Angelbello

Groups two, three and four were the Pug, Papillon and Maltese, respectively

Every year we have a spectacular raffle and this year was no exception. Special thanks to (S)Kim Golfarb, Judy Kline and Sandee Cole for all their efforts getting the baskets wrapped and setting the up raffle table. Also to (VP)Irene Prinstein and (P)Lynn Hoffman for selling so many raffle tickets.

We also had our typical holiday munchies and goodies for all to enjoy throughout the day.

Special Thanks to our show chairman Bill Kopp for coordinating another succesful show with the AKC and MBF. Also to our chief steward Joyce Soloway for working so dilligently in the ring.

A very special thanks to our Judge Thomas E. Daniels pictured above with our group four winner. I'm sure it was a long day of looking over approximately 135 show dogs.

Jupiter Tequesta A.K.C. Dog Show, Ringside: Italian Greyhounds

This past weekend many of the Toy Dog Club of South Florida members attended and competed in the Jupiter Tequesta A.K.C. All Breed Dog Show in Palm Beach, FL.
The dog show was held at Palm Beach Fairgrounds. Even with the heat outside it was a wonderful indoor, well air conditioned site.

Several of my friends were there showing various breeds large and small.
My friend and President of the Toy Dog Club of South Florida, Lynn Hoffman entered Lyncrest Phantom and Phortunes di'Caramis Phlash. He was just one of the Italian Greyhounds in her line at the event.I was the handler of Phlash for his first ever A.K.C. Conformation both on Saturday and Sunday.

2010 Westminter Kennel Club Dog Show

It's that time of year again, 2010 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. Madison
Square Gardens, New York City, N.Y.

Several of my south Florida friends packed their bags, cars and vans and headed out for the big apple. Canines and their human companions alike are excited to be part of
the biggest dog show in the United States. Westminster is one of the only remaining
bench shows in the country. A bench show is equivalent to a meet and greet area.
This gives the dogs, owners, handlers and breeders an opportunity to visit with people who may be interested in their breed or showing dogs.

This year at Westminster Kennel Club 3 new breeds will be making their debut.
A Norwegian buhund, The Pyrenean Shepherd, pictured below,

Also debuting will be Alchemy, a nine year old sleek coated Irish red & white setter

In case you are wondering where all the dogs can go to get their daily exercise and walks...

There are areas planned out in advance just for these necessary activities.
Including a designated bathing area,

Doggie grooming area

and of course, the all important potty area

While Westminster Kennel Club is known for it's famed annual all breed dog show, the organization has also generously donated proceeds yearly to many charities. ASPCA, Search & Rescue Dogs, Greyhound Rescue, Red Cross and most recently have teamed up with Pedigree for the Pedigree Adoption Drive. The combined effort has generated nearly $2 million dollars toward breed rescues and rescue of shelter dogs.

Westminster is the nations second largest continually held sporting event, after the Kentucky Derby. For those interested in watching the groups will be aired by USA network Monday, February 15 at 8pm eastern. Remaining groups and Best In Show will air Tuesday, February 16th from 8p-11pm eastern.

Therapy Dog Foundation Inc. - What Is A Therapy Dog

Since I have been working on the Therapy Dog Foundation Inc. website, I thought I would share with you a bit about the benefits of training and working as a Therapy Dog Team.

As a member of Therapy Dog Foundation Inc., I have seen first hand the positive response from those who have had an opportunity to experience a visit from our dogs.

Studies have shown positive interaction with dogs helps relieve depression, reduces blood pressure and even increases practical stimulation.

Members who take part in therapy dog class typically find it's a wonderful way to bond with your dog.

Once certified and established as a Therapy Dog Team you become eligible to participate in various types of community events. Whether you're visiting a local nursing home, or a local hospital, this can be very rewarding for all involved.

If you are interested in joining a therapy dog program please look online for a Therapy Dog Club near your city. I leave you with a link to our local chapter for those who are interested.

As we conclude 2009, we wanted to take a moment to express our gratitude.

We honestly do not know where to begin. 2009 was a truly a wonderful year. This fandom blows us away time and time again. You creatively promote our favorite show relentlessly. You passionately promote Jared's charity consistently...

And you donate like crazy! Between our 2009 campaign fundraiser and our additional holiday fundraiser, we raised a total of $17,431! Take that in for a second. Can you believe it? Think about how many animals were saved because of YOU! You all are so amazing. Dare we say it, but you are the BEST FANS IN THE WORLD!

As we enter 2010, we will of course continue to do what we have done since season two. We'll continue to promote the heck out of the most awesome show on television today and of course we will continue to raise funds for A Dog's Life Rescue. Full details will follow, but expect monthly incentives, new interviews...And a whole new site to donate - where your donation dollars will be stretched further than any site we've used before! To say we're excited is an understatement.

Please know that we would never ask anyone individually to donate, but what help we would love to have in 2010 is for you to keep doing what you do best - tell the world about Supernatural and about the good deeds we fans do. We are such huge animal advocates and being able to tie this passion into our favorite TV show has been so rewarding. We hope you are enjoying the ride as well.

This past Wednesday, December 02, 2009 the Toy Dog Club of South Florida kicked off a 5 day cluster show in Miami, Florida. This is our club's annual A.C.K. Toy Dog specialty.

This year we are proud to say that our entries were up in numbers, which is surprising considering the show has customarily been on a Friday. Below are some of the show exhibitors and their beautiful toy breeds.

This is a typical Show Grooming area for the participants. Some of these adorable dogs require extensive grooming, such as Yorkie's, Maltese and Poodles, while others are basically wash and wear breeds.

Here is a picture of the top group of toy puppies.

Pictured below is our club booth primarily made up of raffle items. Special thanks to Kim Golfarb and her mother for coordinating and wrapping the raffle items.

A special thanks to Show Chairman Bill Kopp, Judge Arlene Benko, Steward Joyce Soloway and the clubs pre-planning committe for making the 2009 Toy Dog Club of South Florida Specialty Show a great success.

Fall Harvest Fun Match-Dog Show

Sunday, November 15th friends of the Toy Dog Club of South Florida presented the Fall Harvest Fun Match.

The Fun Match was held in Wellington, Florida at the stunning Sympatico Farms. It's a wonderful place to bring your dogs and the entire family for a fun filled day.

For those who are not familiar with the term "Fun Match" it's a dog show for fun instead of an A.K.C. pointed dog show.

Fun Matches can also be part of the training process for puppies and young adult dogs that are getting ready to show in an A.K.C. dog show.

Retired veteran show dogs also often attend dog matches if they still enjoy the show process and atmosphere. Not to mention the special attention..

This seasons match was great fun for exhibitors, vendors and dogs alike. Here are some of the winning dogs below.

Special thanks to our judges this season. William Kopp, Diane Wagner, Robert D'Angelo and Marcia Adler. Also special thanks to the pre-planning coordinators and those who volunteered time to the event on Sunday.

Fetchpet- Parkland Pumkin Patch Festival and Second Chance Rescue

Fetchpet Palm Beach and Fetchpet N.W. Broward participated in the 13th Annual Parkland Pumpkin Patch Fall Festival this past Saturday.

The festival offers a fun entertaining day for families & their canine companions.

The Parkland Pumpkin Fall Festival is also essentially a benefit to raise awareness for local pet rescues including A Second Chance Rescue

A Second Chance rescue provides foster homes for dogs acquired from kill shelters. Their goal is to re-home those dogs to forever homes. For more information go to www.asecondchancerescue.org.

At the Fetchpet booth we had an opportunity to meet festival goer's all day donning some cute Halloween Costumes. Dog's and their human companions alike. This little one doggies say's I'm Adorable!

RESCUE OF HARLE"QUINN" UPDATE

Quinn is becoming more and more acclimated every day. He now acts as if he has been part of our family since born. He is very comfortable teasing someone when he wants to play. He grabs our 15yr olds arm with his teeth and when he is ignored he nips her in the butt then runs. He zooms around the yard and literally throws sod when he hits the corners. So often I think “look out for the fence.” Then he stops and reverses direction on a dime.

Monday, Oct 12th, Quinn went to school with Kaecee our 5yr old kindergartener for show and tell. All the kids loved him. He was such a well behaved young dog. He sat there and just let 40 little hands maul him. He didn’t try to run around or tug on his leash. One young boy in the hallway was taunting him trying to get him to play. Quinn sat quietly, although he really wanted to play. I think he enjoyed himself as much as the kids enjoyed him.

Wednesday, 10/7, he was nuetered. He moped around that evening and really didn’t feel all that well. In the morning, his tail was wagging and he seemed to have forgotten his ailment. Admittedly it was a challenge to keep him calm for a week. Thankfully, that week ended as of today. Now he is free to roughhouse and run rampant.

My parents were in town over the weekend. Both were impressed by Quinn and fell in Love with him. My Mom calls him Regal and Stately when he sits or trots. He bounces as if to say “look at me and my toy.”

We are looking forward to many good times and lots of fun with our new family member.

In case you couldn't guess we're Shiba Inu mixes.
We also happen to be rescue dogs. We are lucky dogs cuz we're in a Furever home with 4ever peeps. Mommy and daddy are away on a trip but they have a nice lady who comes to play.
Mommy & Daddy have a big yard for us to romp and lot's of room to roam.
After all that activity I'm jonesin' for a miniature philly cheese steak sandwich but I guess this rawhide will have to do.

I love Granma Lynn's play dates cause she has special treaties and pink party hats, my favorite!! I was jonesin' for some Pie but it didnt take a minute to devour granma's special cake. She say's it's liver, I say it's Sweeet! it looks like granpa Stu's cake was sweet too cause look at the size of that spoon! BOW WOW!!!

Noah and the baby bunnies

These little bunnies, about 6 days old, were attacked by a dog and orphaned. Two out of the litter of five did not survive, and these three were not doing very well.

Noah is a non-releasable, one-legged homing pigeon/rock dove that is in the rehab centre. Noah kept going over to the bunny cage and looking in -- even sleeping in front of the door to the cage.

Then, suddenly, there were only two bunnies in the cage. But when Noah moved a bit from the front of the cage to everyone's surprise...there was the tiny bunny..under Noah's wing...sound asleep! That little bunny rabbit had crawled through the cage, preferring a featherbed, no doubt to snuggling up with its littermates!

Now, they are all together and the bunnies are doing GREAT. When the bunnies scoot underneath Noah's feathers, he carefully extends his wings out to surround them and then they snuggle. When one of them moves and they start sticking out here and there, he gently pushes them back under him with his beak! It's like he's saying It's my job to keep you safe ....

Here is "Quinn" an Australian Shepherd recently rescued by a really kind hearted pet lover in Western Michigan. This thoughtful lady found Quinn on Craig's List and discovered that he was to be put down the next day..

Our favorite lady got her husband on the phone and they rushed off to adopt Quinn. Immediately he looked at them as if to say take me, I'm Adorable! Since bringing him home theyve found him to be a very sweet loving family friendly dog. Quinn fell in love with their kids immediately and to quote the family took all the "pettin" he could get.

Quinn now lives with children and has a good size back yard (fenced) where he can run off that massive energy these dogs are known to possess. Quinn loves to go to the school to meet the kids and grab a bunch more pettin!

Im jonesing for a Big Pretzel but mommy popped the top off some Pringles and shes shouting commands at some Dolphins. They have pretty outfits on too but looks like they need to go back to obedience school.....

As promised my second of a two part tribute blog for CW's Supernatural Season 5 opener.

Today I am highlighting A Dog's Life Rescue in California. An animal charity that Jared Padalecki aka Sam Winchester, has officially endorsed. Supernatural fans are raising money in tribute to him and his co-star Jensen Ackles, aka Dean Winchester, also a big animal lover, on screen brother and supportive best friend to Jared.

A Dogs Life Rescue is a non-profit organization in Los Angeles run by Julia Pennington and Allison Lange who's mission is to save neglected, abandoned and abused dogs plus other animals. Since this is run by volunteers all donations, meaning 100% goes to providing shelter, medical attention, adoptions and animal welfare in general. Jared is pictured above with Mika, the ADLR mascot and also below with his 2 beloved rescue dogs on set in Vancouver, Sadie and Harley.

If you care to donate in tribute of Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles I checked the site earlier today and the donations were just over $12,700.00 so far awesome!

Cosette's Trip to Michigan

Hi I'm Cosette.
Like a week ago my mommy got out my favorite bag.
The one that takes me to the big tin can that let's us off at granma's and granpa's.
It's so cool cause granpa has all these white things he calls golf balls. He hits them with a weird silver stick and they fly everywhere.Mommy doesnt have golf balls at home so it's the best thing ever!!!

We had so much fun because grandma and grandpa and great-grandma had all these people there for something called a picnic. I, of course, was the belle of the ball. All I had to do was bat my eyes and all the people played my games and most importantly snuck me hot dogs and carrot cake...

Anyway, It's Tuesday we just got back to Broward County so I guess that's ok but now I have to eat from my own bowl and there's no white balls here at all. Moms listening to some band called "Asia". Guess I'll have to make my own fun and chase my bff Charlize around the house. She protests with this funny sound and bats me in the head with her paw but she loves it and she knows it.

Today September 1st 2009 is the official release date of CW's Supernatural season 4 on DVD.In light of that I'm writing the first of a 2 part series in tribute to my favorite tv actors Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles,aka Sam & Dean Winchester.

Jared is well known for his efforts and contributions with rescue dogs and is a proud owner of 2 rescue dogs named Harley, a Mastiff mix & Sadie, a German Shepherd mix. It is said that Jared bought a house in Vancouver ( where he & Jensen film ) just so Harley & Sadie can have a yard.

He states in interviews that it's great to walk to his trailer(on set) and sit down on his couch with his dogs heads on his lap. As pictured above he even plays ball with them during lunch breaks. Recently, he was heard fielding a question from a fan regarding his dogs personalities.

I had to laugh aloud when he said Sadie is smart, conniving and a criminal mastermind. Kinda reminds me of my resident 7 lb menace Cosette. Harley, he said is just happy to be petted. Imagine that! Well I sure can't...

So stay tuned on Thursday, September 10th when I blog about the Winchester boys again and Jared's affiliation with a non profit Dog/Pet Rescue in California. We know Jared's best buddy Jensen's a huge animal lover too! Anyway, THNX J2 for a great 4 years!!!

Today I am boarding Angel and Gracie at my home in Pompano.

Two sweet black and white Italian Greyhounds ( I.G.'s ) Angel & Gracie are owned by Bill Kopp who is a board member as well as Show Chairman for Toy Dog Club of South Florida. Gracie is a Champion Show Dog handled by Bill and bred by Lynn H. Hoffman. Here is a photo on my pavers earlier today
